Balance

Your balance is the cash total of your account excluding any open positions. It only changes when a trade is closed (or you deposit or withdraw). While trades are open, their profit and loss is “floating” and shows up in your equity, not your balance.

You can see both in MT4’s Terminal ▸ Trade tab. The gap between balance and equity tells you the current floating profit or loss of your open trades.
