How to download XM MetaTrader 4

  1. Open your XM account

    Create an XM account — a free demo, or a live account (XM's minimum deposit is $5). You'll use these details to log in to MetaTrader 4.

  2. Download XM's MetaTrader 4 for your device

    From XM, download MetaTrader 4 for your platform — Windows or Mac desktop, the Android or iOS app, or WebTrader, which runs in a browser with no install.

  3. Find your XM login number, password, and server

    When you open the account, XM provides your MT4 login number, password, and the exact server name. Keep these handy — the right server is essential to connect.

  4. Log in to MetaTrader 4

    Open MT4, go to File ▸ Login to Trade Account (or Open an Account for a demo), and enter your XM login number, password, and server. You're connected.

If your login fails

Almost every "invalid account" or "no connection" message at this stage comes down to one of three things: the wrong server selected, the wrong password type (the investor password is read-only — use your master password to trade), or a typo in the login number. Re-check the server name XM sent you and try again.
